In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the Cricket Club (who used the Hall regularly) decided to erect their own pavilion. The Management Committee under the chairmanship of the late Gerald Elliott raised the funds required mainly from grants. A great deal of local effort particularly on the building and practical side improved the kitchen, provided an extension including an extra toilet, removed the fireplace to provide a serving hatch through from the kitchen and installed a proper car park.

It was then possible to let to a Montessori school for three years and later for nearly ten years to a series of bands for rehearsal. Unfortunately this had to stop due to the noise in spite of the installation of double glazing.

A new Montessori school was found but it very quickly moved to the old school for more space and then was closed as the State schools took over nursery education. Throughout this period extra lighting, fencing, gates were installed.

In the late 90’s and the early 2000’s the Management Committee maintained the standard inside whilst improving the grassed area outside.
